We thank Cancer Treatment Centers of America, our Champion Sponsor of the Promise, for, once again, hosting a truly incredible, inaugural Team Rally of our Race for the Cure season on January 17. Although this Rally of Champions is over, its impact lives on throughout Race season, thanks to the First Commandments of Race Participation, which were shared by some of our top fundraisers and Team Captains at the Rally as well as right here on our website!
Heather Greaves, Team Captain, Cancer Treatment Centers of America
Thou shall not forget your pink pom-poms. You never know when an impromptu pep rally will break out inspiring more team members to get on board!
Joy Rubeo, Team Captain, Spring-Ford School District Employees & Friends
Thou shall keep all team members informed of team and Race events, via any media source available. Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, town crier, snail mail, or good ole' fashioned smoke signal are all acceptable!
Jeanette Stephens-El, Team Captain, Team Raining Deer, 2012 Race Co-Chairperson
Thou shalt not take unknown entities in vain! In my relentless pursuit for Race incentive prizes in the form of restaurant dinner certificates, I came across a restaurant whose ad I saw in a food magazine and decided to include them in my list of restaurants that I was contacting. To my surprise the owner answered the phone. After I gave her my pitch, she politely asked, "Why now?" She continued, "We've been here for years and no one has ever called us." After I answered, she proceeded to give me her schedule so that I could personally pick up the gift certificate and visit her restaurant
Ouida Brown, Team Captain, FAMU Rattlers for the Cure
Thou shall never miss an opportunity to send an email, face book message, tweet soliciting for funds for Race for the Cure. There is power is electronic/social media
Elaine Grobman, Team Captain, Elaine's Babes
Thou shall never ride silently in an elevator! You'll find some of your most loyal supporters embrace your mission in just those few seconds you share a ride up or down.

We thank Chapman Auto Stores, our March Pink Ribbon of the Month honoree, for hosting our first-ever fundraising fair on February 21! It was a great evening of learning by example as five Race Teams set up fundraising stations for the rest of the guests to expereince and 'support' with Komen cash. Over 50 Race participants shared ideas, learned from each other and participated in a fun and inspiring program that demonstrated why fundraising is critical to saving lives today and advancing us on the journey to a world where breast cancer is no more a threat to any life than is the common cold. Had this Fundraising Fair been for 'real money', in just over one hour, together we would have raised $5,270! And, in fact, many participants did donate real cash for the cause.
We applaud our Fundraising Fair team exhibitors for their creative ideas, hard work and achivements that night:

We thank the dozens of dedicated Race for the Cure participants who came out to Lansdale, PA for our final Rally of this Race season. Jane Lopoten's School of Dance hosted a fun two-hour event in their very pink... very hope-filled... dance studio. Guests had opportunities to interact with Race experts to learn more about registration, forming teams, fundraising and how to have fun at the Race itself. Adding to the fun was a 'pin the ribbon and win' contest. The afternoon concluded with a 'sharing in the round', where guests and volunteers formed a circle and shared their inspirational stories about their activism with The Affiliate and involvement with our Race. Speakers included Jane Lopoten, Skylar Clemens, our youngest Race fundraiser, and Sandy Martini, chair of the 2012 Kids for the Cure: UnitedHealthcare Dash to Make a Difference.
Congratulations to Nichol Meager, winner of our pin the ribbon contest prize - two tickets to Defending the Caveman and the National Constitution Center's "From Ashbury Park to the Promise Land: The Life and Music of Bruce Springsteen."
