The grassroots activism that makes Susan G. Komen for the Cure a worldwide leader is definitely going strong throughout the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate service area. The ongoing efforts by The Star Group create an excellent example.
This month, we are proud to honor the entire team at The Star Group and its Co-Founder/CEO, Linda Rosanio, with our "Pink Ribbon of the Month." Together they show incredible creativity, teamwork and dedication in driving an entire company as well as the communities in which they do business to get involved in raising funds and awareness. Their clear passion for the Komen promise, as well as outstanding ability to embrace all walks of life in the breast cancer movement, is an inspiration for us all.
Much more than just a company who provides marketing support for the Philadelphia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, from day one The Star Group has empowered us with an incredible suite of professional advertising and PR capabilities integrated with a personal commitment by everyone on the Star-Komen Philadelphia team to embrace the Komen vision. Throughout the agency you'll find the team taking the steps necessary to help make a world without breast cancer a reality - steps far above-and-beyond what one would consider typical "client service."
One clear-cut example of this is the 2009 Komen Philadelphia Pink Tie Ball. When we approached Linda Rosanio and Jan Talmeo, Co-Founder/CEO and Co-Founder/CCO of The Star Group, respectively, to volunteer as event co-chairs, they not only accepted the position with tremendous enthusiasm, they thanked us for the opportunity to pursue their personal passion in the fight against breast cancer. In the few short months since their appointment as co-chairs, Linda, Jan and numerous members of The Star Group team have dedicated personal time and professional talents to secure Pink Tie Ball patrons and set in motion many great additions to the event.
In addition, last month, The Star Group staff rallied to create a Race for the Cure team and raise funds through the second annual "Mama Catelli's Meatball Fundraiser." In just one short afternoon lunch break in their Voorhees and Philadelphia offices, The Star Group raised more than $1,300 for the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate. Shown here, working the buffet line was the Mama Catelli Event Committee including: Connie Fithian, Linda Rosanio, Karen Catelli, Kate Talamo, Lisa Fellman, Stephanie Dromgoole, "Mama" Nancy Catelli and Denise Pereau.
Plus, starting this summer, everyone can look for "The Caring Cup" in selected supermarkets-another innovation of The Star Group to leverage a popular product of one of their clients in order to raise money and awareness for our community's fight against breast cancer.
In all they do for the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate, the Star Group continually helps us to "dream bigger" and make it happen. We hope everyone can use The Star Group story to inspire their own activism.
