Affiliate Welcomes New Board Treasurer & Members

Esteemed business leaders make commitment to helping save lives by serving on the Board of Directors for the Philadelphia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure,

The Komen Philadelphia Affiliate recently announced the election of a new Treasurer for its Board of Directors, Ronald B. Morris, CPA, Managing Member of Innovative Financial Services, LLC. Four new Members were also named to the Board: Frank Becker, Director of Human Resources, Chesapeake District, UPS; Judy Kellem, Owner/President of Facilities Relocation Consultants, Inc.; Sloane Six, CEO/President, Hazleton Oil & Environmental, Inc.; and Lawrence A. Smith, Owner, Tradewinds Marketing International.

 


"We are very enthused and fortunate to have elevated Ron to Treasurer, as well as have four new members in place who, together, possess a powerful diversity of experience, plus fine reputations in our community for the levels of integrity they demonstrate in their professional and private lives," said Elaine I. Grobman, Executive Director of the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate. 

 

"The recent economic times has have placed our organization in a challenging environment, with a tremendous number of women having insufficient or no medical benefits for breast health... and families having to choose food over healthcare," Grobman continued.  "However, with such a resourceful, impassioned Board leading our activism, the community can be confident that the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate will continue to make significant progress in the fight against breast cancer as we bring equality of care to enrich and save lives throughout our thirteen-county service area."

 

Before starting their positions, each new Board member has had special involvement in support of the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate. In addition, Becker, Kellem and Smith are members of the newly founded Komen Philadelphia Affiliate Leadership Fundraising committee and, as such, will be highly active in generating substantial funding over the next several years.

The position of Komen Philadelphia Board President will continue to be filled by Joanne Calabria, Vice President, Public Affairs for CBS Television Stations.
